Rachel Elkins

As Coordinating Chair of the PGRN, she will work closely with faculty to coordinate research and extension efforts, as well as oversee field research efforts in California.

Rachel conducts and extends applied research on mainly on European pears and walnuts, and to a lesser extent apples and olives grown for oil on the North Coast and Upper Sacramento Valley (pears only). She has been involved in field evaluation of pear rootstocks and cultivars for nearly 20 years, including the NC140 Multistate Regional Rootstock Project, NECC Regional Cultivar Evaluation Project, and industry-funded trials.
